October 2019 First Friday Art Walk

Perfect Beauty by Bev Jozwiak

During the month of October watercolor artists Bev Jozwiak and Vickie Nelson will be displaying their collaborative art show here at Aurora Gallery. The opening reception will be held on October 4, 2019 from 5-9pm on October’s First Friday Art Walk.

Bev Jozwiak’s skill as a painter has garnered her national acclaim as one of America’s premier painters. She has had a plethora of successful one woman shows for prestigious galleries, been featured in several art magazines, and has her own published book titled Painting Life with Life. “Winging it” is the theme of Bev Jozwiak’s new work. With a focus on birds, Bev paints in a loose manner. Bold confident brush marks are shown in this collection that only comes after a lifetime of painting. Whether painting in acrylic or watercolor, the goal is the same; to create an impressionistic painting with rich varied color, great values, and design. She never wants the viewer to think her paintings look like photographs, but rather to see the brushwork, and the love and energy that goes into every piece.

Vickie Nelson is an internationally recognized watercolor artist that has devoted her life to teaching and creating fine art. Her education in art has been through workshops with world renown artists such as: Irving Shapiro, Charles Reid, Eric Wiegardt, Frank Webb, Mary Whyte to name a few. But, more importantly the disciplined practice of painting daily has been the key to her success in art. When Vickie first discovered watercolor painting, there was instant passion. Five seconds into putting paint to paper, she was hooked. After all these years she still has an overpowering zeal for this beautiful medium. Vickie wants her paintings to have a freshness and spontaneity; as well as to stir the inner emotions of the viewer.

Join us at the opening reception to see the work of these two prominent watercolor artists.
