Artists Barbara Szkutnik and Elizabeth Steinbaugh will be displaying their annual show on November 1, 2019 from 5-9pm at Aurora Gallery for November’s First Friday Art Walk. The show will be up in the main gallery for the month of November.
Barbara Szkutnik is known for her mixed media and pastel paintings that depict complex abstracts and landscapes. Although she is working with the same subject matter, Barbara has decided to simplify her process by working with just acrylic paint. Barbara says: “Pastel once seemed like a perfect fit for drawing and painting, but there is always an urge to see what else, how much further I could push the medium. Formerly, I used acrylic as a step in a longer painting process, but for this show, it is an end in itself. Painting is an exploration, and this isn’t the end of the journey.” While Barbara has simplified her process in making her paintings, she still creates intricate pieces with layers of texture and color.
Elizabeth Steinbaugh will be showcasing new artwork in her continued study of abstracts using acrylic paint. Elizabeth will be introducing works with an expanded palette of cooler colors and new compositions of abstracted landscapes.
Join us on November 1st to meet with the artists and discuss their work over wine and treats.
