On February 4th, First Friday Art Walk opens a new show at Aurora Gallery with Longview artist and mixed media painter Barbara Kaempf Matkowski.
Barbara uses metal, fabric, paint, photography, and found objects on wood to create her large and interesting industrial and ultra contemporary images. Her new “urban totems” pull all those elements into an attractive 60 inch tall wall hanging that resembles a 21st century totem pole. Barbara also will feature the Hard Candy series of photography laminated on wood with metal and resin finishes. These little pieces sparkle and catch light. Industrial images of brick walls and train tracks adorn the Hard Candy boxes, which are stunning when used in large arrangements.
Jeweler Pat La Croix, will also be featured. Pat, a local artisan jeweler will show hand-made jewelry with a natural theme. Semi-precious stones and sterling silver are assembled to make necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Many of Pat’s designs are based in nature. All are unique and one of a kind. A special Trunk Show will be featured on February 4th from 6-9 pm. With hundreds of pieces of jewelry to pick from for your special valentine.
