Marty Willey

Neither my education nor my profession prepared me for what has become my creative passion - beaded jewelry design. Over the years, Ive dabbled in everything from pottery to knitting, soft sculpture, embroidery, and sculpting with polymer clay. A seemingly trivial gift of stone bead chips introduced me to the world of stones and design. And so, with the encouragement and guidance of a knowledgeable friend, I embarked on my second career. The materials themselves an figuring out how best to marry a variety of elements into a “happy” design is my passion. I like to create jewelry with strong visual interest by using unique silhouettes and the intense colors of glass and semi-precious gemstones. Man of my clients have taken the time to share the pleasure of their acquisitions.

My work has been represented in galleries in New York state as well as the Albany Institute of History and Art, the Vanderbilt Mansion Museum shop in Hyde Park, and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass. Most recently my designs can be found in the Attic Gallery, Camas, and Aurora Gallery, Vancouver.
